It’s so Fulfilling to See What the Lord Does Through This Ministry
We had a chance to sit down and interview Bo and Julie Davis last spring and hear their testimonies. Their stories are consistent with what we are hearing from other churches. Julie shared, “We get to see so many kids start from first grade, and now they are in youth still serving. It is so neat to watch their growth. We have a first grader (our son) who is learning to spend time with the Lord daily, and he loves it. Both of our boys have given their lives to Christ through this ministry. Last year, our son Joshua gave his life to Christ on the mission trip during the Kids Blitz.”
During the interview, Bo shared, “I never thought I would be working in Children’s Ministry. It’s so fulfilling to see what the Lord does through this ministry and through these children. There are spiritual disciplines that they learn. To see the spiritual gifts pulled out of them is absolutely incredible. To put it on a very personal level, I wasn’t saved until I was 18 years old. I didn’t know anything about church or discipleship. To see my boys learning these disciplines and giving their lives to Christ at a young age is so rewarding as a parent….to learn these things at a young age, to learn how to serve and why it is important to serve the body of Christ. The fact that we have seen so many of our original L.I.T.s—fifth and sixth graders—who are now juniors and seniors…I don’t have enough fingers to count how many are serving on Wednesday nights. This also includes those who are actually leading groups. It is incredible!” (Bo & Julie Davis are parents, and they serve as the L.I.T. and Nehemiah Kids Directors at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Cedar Hill, Texas.)

Trying to Figure God Out
by Clint May
Have you ever tried to figure God out? Just about the time you think you have, He changes things. Scripture tells us, “‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts’” (Isaiah 55:8-9). I love this passage of Scripture because it shows the heart of God. Even though I might have things figured out and am heading in a particular direction, many times the Lord surprises me by opening a new door of opportunity. For the past three years since going full-time with the ministry, it has been a time of shoring things up. Three years ago, I could only dedicate a little amount of time to L.I.T. beyond my church duties because I was on staff full-time. Now that I am full-time with L.I.T. Ministries, there is a lot of freedom to update, make changes, and improve what we have before moving forward. At times, I am having to learn the hard way to wait on the Lord. When I do, He amazes me every time, and it gives me great joy in the journey. The blessing now is seeing what the Lord is doing right before my eyes. I have had the privilege of working with Dr. Richard Ross speaking and sharing with children and student pastors. We both greatly desire to see these church leaders break down silos and work together to disciple and fully release children and students in ministry. It has been my honor to partner with Dr. Ross in this endeavor. Last week, I had the privilege of sharing at Dallas Theological Seminary with children’s ministry students there. It has been such a joy investing in these younger brothers’ and sisters’ lives.
Something that has come about more recently is an open door of opportunity through the Global Children’s Network. Through this network, L.I.T. will be able to impact thousands of children in Asia, Africa, and South America. These third world countries have little to no resources with which to disciple children, neither do they have the funds to pay for them. G.C.N. provides needed training and resources to these countries at no cost. That is where L.I.T. comes into the picture. The L.I.T. Board of Directors will be meeting in the near future to discuss what resources we will provide to this initiative at no cost. Please keep us in your prayers.
We have raised more than $12,000 towards our goal of $30,000. By reaching this goal, it will allow us to expand the ministry to impact more children. Please prayerfully consider how you might help us meet our goal. To join us on the journey click here.
This Month’s Prayer Needs
- We had a great Fall Banquet! We have currently raised more than $12,000. It is our goal to raise $30,000 by the end of the year.
- For new open doors of opportunity for ministry in Fort Worth
- Pray for wisdom for the L.I.T. Board of Directors. We are praying about how we will partner with Global Children’s Network. We would partner with them in the distribution of certain L.I.T. resources for third world countries. Please pray for the Lord to give us peace and clarity of direction.
- Pray for our next online webinar with Dr. Ross, that the Lord would speak through us to children and student pastors about the importance of working together.
- Pray for the number of churches attending next year’s mission trip to double.
- Pray for wisdom regarding our training events next year as well as international ministry opportunities.
